Electrical compliance in Brussels: from your inspection report to your certificate
Five clear steps, no price surprises and no paperwork on your side. We work in English.
Do you have your inspection report in your hands? That is an excellent starting point. But every home has its own quirks: the type of walls, the distance the cables have to travel, the real condition of your sockets and switches. The report lists the breaches of the RGIE, the Belgian wiring regulations, but it does not tell you how to fix them in your home. Here is how we take care of it, from the first appointment to your certificate of compliance.
Some of the breaches listed in your report make no sense to you?

01
The on-site technical visit
We come to your home to measure exactly how much work is needed. It is also a conversation: we map out what you need now and later, an EV charge point, extra sockets, outdoor lighting, and we give you our professional opinion.
-
02
A transparent, turnkey quote
After the visit we write your detailed quote. The fee for the approved inspection body's visit is included in it, so there is no paperwork on your side.
-
03
Quality, on purpose
We are open about not being the cheapest on the market. Absolute rigour in the execution, and professional, high-end equipment (Niko, Hager, Vynckier, Legrand, Schneider) built to last for decades.
-
04
Carrying out the work
Once the deposit is paid we plan the works together. Our electricians correct every fault and bring the installation into compliance properly, and they leave your home clean.
-
05
Certification of your installation
When the work is finished we book the appointment with the approved inspection body ourselves. It issues your official certificate of compliance, valid for 25 years.

Before and after
An inspection report describes breaches, it does not show you the result. Here is an installation we reorganised completely in order to bring it into compliance.
So what is this going to cost me?
Our price ranges item by item, five real projects with their actual figures, and a tool that estimates your budget in thirty seconds.
Frequently asked questions
Legal deadlines, obligations, how long the work takes: the answers to the questions we are asked most often. If a term in your report is unclear, we explain the technical vocabulary in plain words in our glossary (in French).
The deadline depends on the age of your installation:
- Installation commissioned after 1 October 1981: 12 months from the date of the inspection.
- Installation older than 1 October 1981: 18 months.
In the case of a sale, the 18-month deadline starts from the signature of the notarial deed. An extension can be requested from the FPS Economy in the case of the 12-month deadline.
Yes. A negative report does not block the sale. It remains legally valid and you must hand it over to the buyer.
For an installation older than 1 October 1981, the buyer takes over responsibility for the work and has their own deadline to put the installation in order. The seller must provide the report and inform the buyer of the deadline that applies.
Many owners still prefer to settle compliance before putting the property on the market: a property with a positive certificate negotiates better.
It depends on the scale of the job. Count one to two days for a light compliance job (adding an earth connection, replacing a residual current device, correcting a few points), and several weeks for the complete rewiring of a large house.
On top of that comes the wait for a re-inspection appointment. We take care of booking it as soon as the work is finished, with nothing at all for you to arrange.
- A missing or inadequate earth connection.
- No 30 mA residual current device.
- Missing or out-of-date single-line and position diagrams.
- Safety zones in the bathroom not respected.
- Damaged, undersized or non-compliant wiring.
- An old or overloaded consumer unit.
Each of these appears in your report with an RGIE reference that does not always help you understand what it actually means. We decoded them one by one in our guide to reading an inspection report (in French).
Yes, and it is a point that is often overlooked. Without those two documents the inspection is automatically negative, even if your installation is technically flawless.
We draw up or update these diagrams as part of our compliance work.
For a home, the certificate of compliance is valid for 25 years, provided no significant change is made to the installation in the meantime.
A new inspection becomes mandatory if you replace your consumer unit, increase your supply capacity, or add solar panels, a home battery or an EV charge point.
- Before a new installation is put into service.
- After a significant change to an existing installation.
- When a home is sold.
- Periodically, every 25 years for domestic installations.
- After a capacity upgrade or the addition of solar panels, a battery or an EV charge point.
We work in every municipality of three areas:
- The Brussels-Capital Region, all 19 municipalities.
- Walloon Brabant, with a particularly strong presence in Braine-l'Alleud: Waterloo, Nivelles, Wavre, Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Lasne, Rixensart, Genappe, Ittre, Braine-le-Château.
- Flemish Brabant, from the Brussels periphery to Leuven: Sint-Genesius-Rode, Halle, Dilbeek, Overijse, Tervuren, Zaventem, Vilvoorde, Grimbergen.
For a large project we are happy to travel beyond these three provinces. The simplest thing is to talk about it.
That is all there is to it at Tapelec.
We turn a stressful inspection report into a simple formality, with safety and peace of mind on top.
